In the context of the social media era, the development trend of the design industry is faster than that of any other industry. The rapid explosion and spread of aesthetic trends make designers have to fully grasp the current design trends. Let’s explore and enjoy!
Top 5 UI Design Trend That You Should Know
1. Glassmorphism
In 2020, when the epidemic is sweeping the world, the industry pulse is forced to stagnate, and many design trends have not changed much and will continue into the new year and continue to dominate. As we all know, a new mimicry (Neumorphism) style is an imitation of plastic material being squeezed, and the emergence of another new style gained a lot of attention at the end of 2020, the new style is more emphasis on the use of vertical space Z-axis.
Its most typical characteristics are:
- Transparency (use frosted glass effect with blurred background);
- Objects float in the space, expressing a sense of hierarchy through front and back relationships;
- Bright colors accentuate the fuzzy transparency;
- The delicate processing of the edges of translucent objects uses a delicate frame to express the glass texture.

This combination of shadow, transparency, and blurred background makes the interface appear as a texture between glass and plastic plates. It is called Glassmorphism by Michal Malewicz. It can be seen that in web design, the effect of using “glass” in an appropriate amount will actually make the product look better and more attractive to users. The interface will become richer, more three-dimensional, and more layered.

Similarly, the 3D frosted soft light glass material seems to me to be a continuation of the Glassmorphism (glass mimicry) style. It gives a light and transparent visual experience and creates a futuristic scene, which is very suitable for conveying the concept of technological intelligence. Therefore, this style has become the design first choice of a large number of companies with technology backgrounds, which are mainly used in hardware systems and tools.

2. 3D Elements
Frankly speaking, 3D design is not a new way to play, but it is getting cooler. You can see the application of 3D in almost a variety of products, especially in the field of illustration, which has seen significant growth. The difference from previous years is that it has become more simple and seems to be affected by the flat style. Therefore, 3D design is likely to continue and become a UI Design Trend 2021. It is widely used in UI, website, character, and animation design, presenting a more impactful visual effect.

3. Dark Mode
Many applications and mobile products may now have a convenient dark mode. Whether it is for aesthetics or to make it easier on the eyes, it is only a feature but it is popular on more and more design websites. So I think the dark mode will not only remain but will become more popular and a UI Design Trend 2021.

4. Real Photos
Of course, sometimes 3D illustrations may not be suitable for all products. Sometimes real people and real objects will be more attractive to users and make them feel more empathetic.

5. Colorless UI
Colorless UI refers to a colorless user interface with thin lines and black and white (or subtle colors) illustrations. I accidentally saw a set of black and white interface designs on Dribbble, which stood out among a bunch of brightly colored designs. This style is also another new attempt.

People’s aesthetics will always change. We are easy to get tired of one trend and turn to another style every few years. As designers, we need to explore all the potential of developing products, hoping that these trends can stimulate the creativity of designers.
